Wagamon

There is only one word to describe Wagamon, and that is ‘enchanting.’ Set at an altitude of 1100 m in the Idukki Kottayam border, this idyllic destination is known for its heady beauty. Although Wagamon is a bit inaccessible compared to similar places, once you reach there, you are bound to realize that the journey was well worth it. Nature here is unadulterated by human encroachment and can be experienced in all her freshness. Green tea and spice plantations stretch out endlessly among misty valleys and flowing streams. The climate is cool throughout the year and the temperature stays below 25 degrees. Infact the air here is often recommended for those recovering from ailments.

Wagamon is also known as a trekker’s dream. It stands surrounded by three main hills-the Thangal, the Murugan and the Kurisumala. There are a hundred different paths for a trekker to choose from, each more beautiful than the other.  The peculiar rock formations in Thangal Para also add to the beauty and mysticism of Wagamon. Waterfalls are aplenty here and provide ideal settings for a refreshing bath, if you are prepared to stand the cold, of course. And don’t be surprised if you come across an elephant or two having a drink right next to you.
